Behind the club we have a well kept bowling green.
At the end of August if you think you’re good enough we have a singles professionals vs. amateur tournament and the winners take home the McNamara trophy.
We also have Tribute nights every month for all of our music fans. Live entertainment on the weekends in our concert room for all ages. Ranging from Blue’s, pop, rock, The Classics and some good old Irish folk.
The History of The Warrington Irish Club began in the mid 50’s after the Second World War. The club was located back then on Beauty Street before moving to Bank Street. All of the entertainers in the late 50’s early 60’s used to go to the Par Hall in town due to the premises on Bank Street not having a concert room for all the weekly Irish entertainment.
The committee decided in 1963 the club needed a change and moved premises to a more spacious, personal, "keep it all in one place kind of club" on Orford Road where we are today, for the Irish performers and locals to enjoy without rushing off to get their front row seats at the Par hall.
Luckily for the Club all of the Irish residents lived in the neighbour hood on Orford Road. Every Week the locals used to meet and collect their wages and pop over to The Warrington Irish Club to enjoy games of Dominos, Darts, Bingo, Snooker and many more.
A pint back then used to cost 1/10 pence. Still to this day The Warrington Irish Club have always kept the prices low and have remained competitive. We still have great seasonal events going on year on year including The St Patrick’s day festival and Christmas Faye. We have Sports Team activities happening every week, as we did back when we first opened. We have Live sports on Sky Sports, GAA, F1, Racing and many more.
Warrington Irish Club
the modern day
A lot has changed from the mid 60’s here at The Warrington Irish club.
Our renovated lounge area was once a committee room. A lot of the members remember the debates from past committees.
Now we have a lovely spacious lounge where you can all enjoy a drink and a catch up within a relaxing, friendly atmosphere.
There’s an extension onto the building where we host our sports fans. We show a variety of live sports and if you’re a rugby fan? We’re only a 5 minute walk to Halliwell Jones Stadium. (The Warrington Wolves Rugby stadium). Nice.
